All of the four major Jap bikes hold up very well in general. I still feel that Hondas are the best of the bunch but they are all very good.

I have more experience with dirt bikes, but Honda really keeps things nice and simple and uses top notch hardware. That makes for a great combination. The nuts, bolts, bearings, levers, etc and just so durable and well thought out. Currently I have a Honda car, and 3 Honda motorcycles (plus a Triumph). I have owned lots of bikes and Honda’s are just hard to beat. Don’t get me wrong, I liked my Yamaha’s, and the YZ motors are awesome (in the past few years I have owned a YZF600, YZ250, and YZ450F), but Honda’s hardware is just a step above. The Triumph is also very well made, getting pretty close to the Honda. Kawaskai used to be right in there as well, but they started making lots of them in 3rd world countries and the quality seems to suffer. Suzuki’s are looking good these days, and a couple of the models would be on my love-to-have list (DRZ400, VStrom), maybe as good as Kawasaki used to be. I would say that Yamaha and Suzuki are 90% of Honda, and Kawasaki is now maybe 80%. If a good deal on one presents itself, go for it!

    YAMAHA.
mine is perfect. I’ve ridden other brands and they can’t come close. My bike only broke when I flipped it and it’s so hard to lose traction even with my tires being a little warn. They know what they’re doing and they’ll offer preformance parts for most their bikes that they test themselves so you know its gonna be good. And they sell at a better price then Suzuki and Honda. I also love Kawisaki but they don’t have much variety.

I would say moden Hondas are no more or less reliable than moden Yamahas. Suzukis seem to rust quicker than Honda or Yamaha, I haven’t had much experiance with kawasakis but olders ones are know to be unreliable.

15 years ago Honda was the top dog. I personally rate them even now with Yamaha and Suzuki. Now that means either Yamaha and Suzuki has stepped up (which they have) or Honda has declined (which they have also). There is no reason that Honda should not still be dominating but the truth of the matter is they just are not. Those that continue to tell you Honda is superior to the other makers is just no longer informed of what is really going on.

Yes, those makers’ parts hold up very well. I would rate Yamaha as the top Japanese maker, even though I ride a Honda. Just my opinion, though.
    Good luck.
