How many Lotus dealerships have you seen? Only locally-owned exotic car dealerships may want to bring them in and sell them… That may be why.
Just a guess.
I’m kind of choked too, now that I think about it. I saw two In Winnipeg, Manitoba last summer, but those were the only one’s I’ve ever laid eyes on.
I instructed someone in high speed autocross in the hardtop version with a wing (Exige). The woman driving did have on-track experience with a Corvette. Even though she seemed to be holding back, modified Mustangs kept getting in our way. The seat bottom was a bit narrow for my bottom, but the G forces were beyond what I was used to, and you don’t want to be sliding around in the seat. It did have enough leg and headroom (she was tall too), although, you have to open the door to put your helmet on because the windows are too small. I want one.
Hers only had I think 190 hp in a very light car. But I saw a video of the test version with supercharged 265 hp E85 engine.
The Elise show up at the track too (Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs in IL/WI/MI and members from surrounding states). But if you see one next to an SUV, you might understand why you do not see too many on the street (so low they might not be seen).
I see a lot during the summer. There is a dealing in Ann Arbor where I live and alot of people who have some money. I see bentlys, ferraris, lambos, and porches around once in a while too. I raced a lotuse exige like 2 days ago in my accord, of course I lost but it was fun lol. But I think one reason you may not see them alot because they are made mostly to be driving on the track. They arent comfortable to drive long distances on the street like a ferrari or a porsche would
You only get 190 HP and are very small.
Way too underpowered for a car that costs $40K.
It’s soo small that nobody can fit in it. And who can fit, will sell it in a few months because it’s just so uncomfortable. My husband works for Audi, they also sell Lotus, and he is 6′ and he can’t get into it.. Knew somebody who sold his because it was just too uncomfortable. Did not worth it. There are other cool cars similar priced that are comfy.
The main reason you don’t see many Lotus Elise on L.A. roads is because the roads are so bad and bumpy and of course, the suspension on the Lotus Elise is definitely sporty and harsh.
